Welcome to the Music page of RobBarton.com

I have played the piano since the age of 7 and the guitar since 18.  I first started writing some songs whilst at University and always wanted to get something recorded somehow into a CD.  You know, for the grand kids!  So I am attempting to write and record an album at the moment.  I really enjoy playing, writing and recording - it's one of my favourite hobbies - but don't have plans for live performances.  I am certain the quality could be improved if I put more time in.  Think "amateur musician" with enthusiasm, slightly dodgy equipment and a debatable lack of talent and you won't be far wrong!

My album is entitled "Songs about Nobodies or Somebodies" and will be available... well when it's finished!  :-)  The song style ranges from piano ballad [When You Smile], through acoustic [Superstar and Feeling Low] and through soft guitar rock [Paranoid] to an end-of-album epic [Found You].  Some songs are emotional, some melodic and some are supposedly both.

The track order on the album is as shown below.  Song titles that are links have been recorded and you can click on them to download a small MP3 demo.  Lyrics are also provided (via a new window) for completed songs.  Watch this space for more uploaded songs as they become available.  If you are interested in hearing more or want to order an album, please contact me on music@robbarton.com (but don't get too excited for the finished masterpiece just yet).  The album cover and inlay card - featuring all the lyrics - will be made available here as soon as the album is finished.
